Sleep disorders of the adolescents

According to a study of the national Institute of health and medical research, 40 % of the teenagers in school feel often tired. Where does this problem come from? How to rediscover rest?
Often connected with sleep disorders, the fatigue must be however followed with attention and by eliminating the most evident causes.
Why teenagers don’t get a good night sleep?
- Does he/she spend too much time in front of his/her computer or playing his/her video games before going to bed?
- Does he/she consume too much coke or coffee, especially at the end of the day?
- Is he/she anxious about an exam for the next day?
If he/she has difficulties to get to sleep, you can start by suggesting him/her, in the evening before bedtime, grandmother’s remedies like good warm bath or herb tea. If he/she has a nervous temperament maybe yoga could help him/her find some serenity.
It is frequent that teenagers suddenly feel knackered due to a push of growth or an energy burn more important than usual. These “slumps” can disappear after one good night of sleep.
On the other hand, if the fatigue persists for several weeks, if it is not reduced after sleep, if, on top of that, it is accompanied with moroseness, it can then be a symptom of depression.
If this fatigue is accompanied with dizziness or with excessive paleness, it can then be due to a strong anemia. In that case, it is important to speak about it with your family doctor.
